About
Kristen started her career in 1989 as a flight control engineer at NASA working for the Space Shuttle Program. NASA presented vast professional opportunities, including living at the Gagarin Cosmonaut
Training Center outside Moscow and traveling worldwide. While at NASA,
Kristen felt strong and secure in who she was, basing her identity on her professional accomplishments. During this time, Kristen was exposed to stimulating challenges, interesting people and she enjoyed the predictable and measurable nature of the work world.
Kristen met her future husband at work. After dating for many years, they married and had their first child one year later. Kristen believed in her calling to put her career temporarily aside and stay home with her children but was unprepared for the challenges that decision would bring. Kristen went into labor at work and left her office as the Lead Engineer for Space Station Medical Operations and headed into uncharted territory.
Without performance guidelines or an instruction manual, she struggled with the transition from full-time work to full-time parenting. She had always dreamed of being a mom and felt guilty about her lack of satisfaction in that demanding role. While searching for a new purpose and identity, she felt God’s hand leading her to start a ministry for women trying to find balance between work and parenting.
Beginning with a group of twenty friends, her ministry, Right at Home, has grown into a national organization leading women to the peace of Christ as they work through the joys and challenges of motherhood. Built on the philosophy of relationships, physical health, and turning to God for answers, Right at Home encourages women to come together in local groups to study God’s word, enjoy physical activity, and build Christ-centered female friendships.
Her personal mission is to be a woman of compassion and inspiration, helping other women focus their lives to find greater clarity and purpose in Christ. Kristen hopes to teach and model balance in health and faith to lead women to connect with God’s ever-present peace and love.
Kristen speaks to women of all ages, using her personal journey to lead them toward peace and balance in their life. She possesses a remarkable ability to inspire women to make and reach personal goals, becoming the women God created them to be.
Kristen is the author of the Bible study, “Living Your Priorities—Creating your legacy based on what you value most©,” and coaches individuals and leaders throughout the U.S. Kristen taught group fitness for fifteen years and remains an avid exercise and nutrition enthusiast. She is the mother of three children and lives in Minneapolis with her husband of 15 years, Stan.
